About Owen Farm

Tommy Owen - 1940-1999
I'm going down to the barn", is what Daddy always said. Tommy Owen left behind many legacies, most importantly, three sons, six grandsons, two granddaughters as well as a lifetime of memories many people cherish. Our parents bought the farm, located on the bluffs of the Cumberland River, from "Ms. Suzanna" Crocker in the early seventies. He loved this place and spent years making it what it is today. Daddy raised cows, tobacco, and hay but mostly he just enjoyed the time he spent here. We lost Daddy in 1999 and miss him dearly. We know he would love that his sons andgrandchildren are carrying on what he began, and that all of us have fallen in love with this place too. Now we hope to share the beauty of our farm with our customers for years to come.
In order to keep up with the changing times, Owen Farm has realized the importance of alternative agriculture. In 2004, Owen Farm began raising sheep and has become one of the largest sheep producing operations in Middle Tennessee. Our farming operation was recognized as the “Tennessee State University Small Farm of the Year for Innovative Marketing,” for our work in the meat sheep industry. Owen Farm hosts an annual “Sheep Day” event where we strive to educate others about the benefits of alternative agriculture.
Beginning in the fall of 2008, Owen Farms’ latest venture is Agritourism. Our farm will be open to the public for all to enjoy. We will host a six week long with activities including: a corn maze, hay rides, field trips, and other agriculture related activities. We hope that others will enjoy our farm, just as we do, and continue Daddy’s legacy for years to come.
